The purpose of this job is:

The Head of Portfolio Management – HS & BVAC Projects is a senior enterprise leader responsible for shaping, delivering, and continuously improving the HS & BVAC Transformation / Capital Works / M&A portfolio across Bupa’s business units. 

This role is pivotal in proactively identifying and addressing delivery constraints – such as resource limitations, change impacts, and deviations from enterprise-wide targets – across the portfolio. The incumbent will drive the development and execution of the portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment with Bupa’s Savannah strategy and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets. 

 Working closely with executive leadership, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, the Head of Portfolio Management will provide strategic direction, expert guidance, and robust governance to enable seamless delivery of programmes and initiatives. 

How will I help?

  • Lead the development, communication, and ongoing refinement of the portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment with Bupa’s Savannah strategy and AOP targets
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable portfolio initiatives, sequencing delivery to maximise value and impact
  • Regularly review and update the roadmap to reflect changing business priorities, market conditions, and emerging risks – in partnership with business leaders
  • Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership and senior stakeholders, providing expert guidance on structuring programmes and initiatives
  • Enable seamless reporting, effective performance management, and optimised resource allocation in partnership with the Portfolio Operations, Finance & Systems team
  • Lead monthly reviews of portfolio performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for uplift
  • Partner with the Head of Portfolio Operations, Finance & Systems and team to ensure robust reporting, financial management, and business case quality
  • Build strong relationships across Bupa’s business units and enabling functions

What you’ll need to make it possible

We are seeking a seasoned leader with progressive experience in portfolio management, programme delivery, or senior leadership roles within complex, matrixed organisations. A strong track record in driving large-scale transformation, enterprise portfolio management, and strategic change initiatives is essential.

The role requires advanced expertise in portfolio governance, benefits realisation, and performance uplift, combined with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at the executive level. Experience in technology enablement, including AI, automation, and advanced analytics, will be highly regarded. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities are critical, along with proficiency in portfolio and project management tools.

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field is required, with postgraduate qualifications in Project Management or Business Administration highly desirable. Certifications such as MoP, MSP, PMP, or SAFe will be considered an advantage.
