About the Role
Forming part of our innovative Next Gen Voice Platform Product Team as a Cloud Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bupa’s Contact Centre platform (AWS Connect). You'll be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and managing cutting-edge cloud-based systems that drive strategic outcomes and deliver exceptional services to Bupa’s customers. Collaborate closely with business and technology leaders to ensure high-quality, efficient service delivery and maintain the integrity of vital Bupa systems. This critical 24/7 platform requires a dynamic engineer who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and is ready to participate in an on-call rotation to guarantee continuous availability and swift issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cloud services comprising Bupa’s Next Gen Voice Platform, including ownership of the AWS Landing Zone, AWS accounts, and key integrations.
- Perform cloud engineering tasks and projects, providing technical guidance and support to the product team.
- Ensure all services, activities, and deliverables comply with Bupa’s requirements, policies, and architectural principles.
- Focus on analysis, solution, and technical design activities, delivering high-quality documentation and realistic work estimates.
- Implement cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
- Automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability of cloud services.
- Integrate security best practices into the DevOps pipeline, ensuring all deployments meet Bupa’s security and compliance requirements.
- Perform regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities. Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, reliable, and safe delivery of applications and services.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of DevSecOps practices across the development and operations teams.
- Develop and implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks to proactively detect and resolve issues.
- Lead incident response efforts, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures to avoid future incidents.
- Partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements, priorities, and deliver high-quality services at pace.
- Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring the Contact Centre platform meets or exceeds performance SLAs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator are preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in cloud-based systems.
- In-depth understanding of Amazon Connect, AWS’s cloud-based contact center service. This includes experience with configuring and managing contact flows, integrating third-party systems, and using AWS Lambda for dynamic data processing.
- Experience with key AWS services such as AWS Lambda, Dynamo DB, EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
- Proficiency in automating deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes using CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
- Solid understanding of DevSecOps principles and practices, with experience integrating security into the DevOps pipeline.
- Understanding of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), network connectivity, and security best practices (VPN, Direct Connect, etc.) when using AWS Connect in hybrid environments.
- Experience with cloud security, compliance, and governance, including performing security assessments and audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on solution design and performance optimization, Log Analysis and diagnostic tools.
