About the role

A Fulltime permanent opportunity has become available in our ADF Health Services Contract (ADFHS) Clinical Governance Team. This is a hybrid role and can be based from our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane office locations when not working from home.

The Quality and Safety Lead drives a proactive culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement by strengthening clinical governance systems, risk management practices, audit programs, compliance activities and service optimisation initiatives. Working closely with the Head of Clinical Governance, Senior Medical Advisor and operational leaders, this role provides oversight of quality frameworks, partners with key stakeholders to improve member outcomes, and ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements.

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the clinical governance framework, with a focus on credentialing compliance, quality systems, risk management and safety standards.
  • Lead investigations into clinical incidents, near misses and operational matters, identifying root causes, managing risks and supporting effective corrective actions.
  • Partner with operational teams to identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce inefficiencies and implement sustainable improvements that enhance service delivery, member outcomes and practitioner experience.
  • Coordinate quality improvement activities, facilitate lessons learned, and support the delivery of initiatives that strengthen clinical safety and continuous improvement.
  • Support credentialing assurance and audit processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements while analysing data and trends to identify systemic improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to governance reporting, translating clinical and operational insights into clear recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.

About you

Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health-related discipline (Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, Health Management or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and risk management within complex healthcare environments.
  • Proven ability to lead investigations, identify improvement opportunities and implement effective quality and safety initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to drive change across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and report writing skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to balance operational delivery requirements with strong governance oversight and continuous improvement objectives.
