The purpose of this job is…..

The Health Services portfolio currently includes our Dental, Optical & Hearing, Medical Centres and Mental Health Clinics as well as providing health care services on behalf of the Australian government to the Australian Defence Force and for visa assessments purposes. Our Health Services business is driving and accelerating our focus on expanding our health care offerings and increasing our owned provision footprint. All of this will require a relentless focus on building and enhancing our strategic capabilities, leveraging our size, scale, and experience

In this 12 month secondment - you will be enabling our portfolio of businesses to meet their full potential, as well as ensuring we are creating a seamless and connected experience for our customers, both within Health Services as well across the Bupa APAC business more broadly. This position is accountable for executing a variety of priorities established in collaboration with the General Manager, Operational Excellence, including routine decision-making responsibilities. 

 The incumbent is expected to exercise autonomy where appropriate and collaborate effectively when necessary. A key aspect of this role involves fostering teamwork and achieving objectives through effective influence and the development of strong working relationships across Health Services, and the APAC Market Unit. This role requires strategic planning across various business units to deliver service efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and deliver a range of strategic projects and initiatives aligned to Health Services priorities and desired business outcomes. 
  • Manage multiple complex projects across diverse business units, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivery of measurable value. 
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to foster collaboration and shared ownership. 
  • Support businesses within the Health Services portfolio to identify opportunities for transformation, continuous improvement, process simplification, standardisation and optimisation. 
  • Drive the implementation of improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. 
  • Influence individuals and teams to evolve and optimise ways of working, including processes, procedures, work instructions, risk and control management. 
  • Apply structured project management methodologies to plan, execute and monitor initiatives, balancing competing priorities and timelines. 
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and working groups to co-design solutions and embed continuous improvement practices. 
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes to ensure benefits are realised and lessons are captured for future initiatives. 
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to a shared Operational Excellence Consultant, ensuring clarity of priorities, expectations and development opportunities. 

What you’ll need to make it possible

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, project/program management or a related discipline. 
  • Experience in management consulting, project/program management and stakeholder management roles in large organisations ideally in the health care industry. 
  • Significant proven experience to influence and drive change across stakeholder groups. 
  • Exceptional demonstrated analytical, verbal, process, and written reporting skills to communicate concepts and deliver meaningful information. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, that has ability to work in a fast-moving collaborative culture with emphasis on achieving results and successful outcomes through consultation and collaboration. 
  • Significant experience in leading the development and facilitation of presentations and workshops with senior stakeholders. 
  • A proven track record of effective stakeholder management and successfully driving outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive engagement, creating an environment that ensures people are engaged, motivated, informed, and onboard with the organisation’s direction, goals and activities.
