Opportunity Snapshot:

The purpose of the Technology Domain Manager role is to provide technical direction and leadership within the Technology HI department. This role involves defining and maintaining a technical vision for a specific technology domain, managing the technical quality of team deliverables, and supporting teams in using appropriate engineering practices. The Technology Domain Manager is responsible for managing domain[1]specific resources and vendors, collaborating with business analysts, architects, and engineers, and ensuring the technical quality, performance and security of applications and environments In addition, the role is responsible for coaching and mentoring team members, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration, and overseeing domain-level project delivery to ensure initiatives meet business objectives. The overall objective is to deliver high-quality technical solutions that align with organisational goals while managing risk, security, cost effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Your Contribution:

  • Define and maintain a clear technical vision, resolve complex decisions, and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Champion modern engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing), improve tooling, and manage technical debt.
  • Coordinate vendors and internal teams to address service requests, incidents, and defects.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to embed sound technical practices.
  • Apply design principles (e.g., domain-driven design) to define service boundaries and integration patterns.
  • Balance functional and non-functional needs to optimise architecture and cloud usage.
  • Manage environments, simplify systems, and ensure patching and risk mitigation.
  • Establish and evolve delivery pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Apply secure design principles (e.g., OWASP), review designs with security partners, and manage sensitive data responsibly.
  • Mentor developers, promote knowledge sharing, and uplift engineering capability.
  • Foster cross-functional teams aligned with agile and product delivery models.
  • Align team capacity with business needs and support career growth.
  • Enable talent mobility and broaden skills through role transitions.
  • Oversee domain-related delivery, manage risks, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Qualifications and training 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and operationalising technology solutions within cross-functional software delivery teams. 
  • Agile, Lean for Software Development, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, DevOps and are familiar with a range of digital tools 
  •  Demonstrated success in managing technology systems and applications that deliver high reliability, performance, and feature quality. 
  •  Active contributor to codebases, collaborating closely with teams on complex implementation details, integration patterns, and technical uplift through practices like pairing, code reviews, and design sessions. 
  •  Broad technical expertise across multiple platforms, including programming languages, deployment and testing tools, infrastructure patterns, and application configuration and management. 
  •  Proven ability to build and develop high-performing engineering teams, with experience in recruitment, coaching, and career development. 
  •  Skilled in navigating matrixed environments, effectively brokering outcomes through collaboration with peers and stakeholders. 
  •  Strong track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance application performance, solution quality, and team effectiveness. 
  •  Capable of setting and communicating a clear technical vision, with the flexibility to operate in both agile and traditional delivery environments depending on team and application needs.
