The purpose of this job

As Squad Lead, you will be accountable end to end for the strategy, prioritisation and delivery of data products and reporting outcomes across Bupa Australia. Operating in a matrix model, you will provide clear direction to Data Analysts and Data Engineers, align senior stakeholders, and oversee the delivery of Power BI reporting and associated data warehouse assets. Success will mean translating strategic priorities into a focused roadmap and backlog, removing delivery barriers, and ensuring scalable, reusable solutions are built to enterprise standards.

What you’ll do

  • Maximise business value delivered by the squad, aligning outcomes to strategic priorities and measurable impact.
  • Define and own the product vision, roadmap and prioritised backlog for data and reporting products.
  • Partner with General Managers, Directors and senior stakeholders to shape demand, agree priorities and manage expectations.
  • Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery plans.
  • Lead Agile delivery practices including sprint planning, stand-ups, showcases, retrospectives and quarterly planning.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery accountability by proactively managing risks, issues, blockers and dependencies.
  • Guide a matrix squad of Data Analysts, Business Analysts and Data Engineers through clear direction, prioritisation and shared expectations.
  • Collaborate with BI and Engineering practices on data assets across enterprise platforms, including silver and gold layers.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, reusable and aligned with architectural standards, governance requirements, enterprise data models and semantic layer principles.
  • Contribute to annual and quarterly roadmaps, resource planning, budgets and forecasts, and communicate delivery performance and realised value.

What you’ll need to make it possible

  • Extensive experience in data, analytics or digital product delivery within a complex enterprise environment.
  • A proven track record in Product Owner, Delivery Lead, Squad Lead or similar Agile delivery roles with end-to-end accountability.
  • Demonstrated success leading outcomes through matrix-managed, cross-functional teams with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong experience delivering data, reporting or business intelligence solutions that create measurable business value.
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence General Managers, Directors and senior business stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and architectures, including medallion silver and gold layers.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Databricks and semantic data models.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile and Scrum, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage interdependencies.
  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
  • A commercial, outcome-focused mindset and tertiary qualifications in Business, Data, Technology or equivalent professional experience.
