The opportunity:

The ADF Health Services Hospital and Provider Performance Manager is accountable for supporting the development and execution of the hospital contracting strategy, ensuring access to high quality services and value is delivered to Defence personnel and Bupa. 

The key focus areas of the role will include supporting the Head of Commercial, Delivery and Performance in optimisation of the commercial strategy for Hospitals and Providers, including the financial and operational performance, underpinned by the ongoing need for relationship management and governance oversight.

How will I help?

  • Support the development and manage the execution of the hospital contracting strategy for ADF HS ensuring access, quality and value are delivered to ADF personnel and Bupa. 
  • Collaborate with the Head of Commercial, Delivery and Performance with the negotiation of hospital contracts, novations and variations as required. 
  • Guide the development of alternate arrangements for access to hospital care or services as required. 
  • Partner with the Network Partnership team and Invoice Operations team as a point of escalation. 
  • Lead the management and development of funding models that mitigate and/or share risk with hospital groups and ADF. 
  • Oversee regular audit program for Hospital invoicing. 
  • Develop, implement and manage a reporting framework for hospital admissions of Defence personnel delivering insightful analysis. 
  • Utilise dashboards and reports to translate financial performance and targets to individual business stakeholders. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with Private and Public Hospitals. 
  • Engage with Private and Public Hospitals to deliver new initiatives and service delivery models as requested by Defence.

 What do I need?

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Management or related field. 
  • Relevant professional qualifications coupled with professional association and memberships.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Casemix funding systems, Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs), National Efficient Price (NEP), MBS item codes and the Prostheses List 
  • Extensive experience within a customer-centric and high performing environment, focused on delivering exceptional value to Defence personnel and for our business, while ensuring Contract governance and performance. 
  • Experience within the private or public health care systems and the related regulatory environments. 
  • Knowledge of associated funding models for services delivered within these systems underpinned by data analytics skills to assess impact. 
  • Clinical knowledge of surgical procedures and complexity drivers. 
  • Significant experience in contract management within the private and public hospital health care systems and the related regulatory environments. 
  • Experience in negotiating contracts, managing contract compliance and relationships with hospital groups effectively, with the ability to influence and persuade through your highly developed written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proven application of financial and operational performance frameworks to drive business outcomes and contractual obligations, specifically processing of hospital invoices.
