The opportunity:

The Financial Accountant ADF (Australian Defence Force) is responsible for performing month-end close activities for the Health Services business as well as ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger. The successful employee will need to be an Australian Citizen for ADF security clearance. 


This is a Fixed Term Contracting role until November 2025.


How will I help?

  • Preparation and completion of revenue and expense accruals and General Ledger reconciliations to a high standard and in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ledger reconciliations – Provide timely and accurate General Ledger account reconciliations to facilitate effective record keeping, monthly reporting, audit compliance, whilst ensuring that unreconciled items are promptly investigated and appropriately cleared in an efficient manner
  • Month end close – Play a critical role for the Health Services business in ensuring adherence to strict timelines in performing the monthly general ledger close in conjunction with the broader Financial Control and Finance & Strategy teams
  • Process documentation – Prepare and update process documentation for key month-end close activities, as well as updating existing documentation including the detailed month-end checklist, Balance Sheet account documentation and other business processes and procedures
  • Gross Margin reconciliation – Assist with the analysis and reconciliation of revenue and expense transactional data that together make up the Gross Margin. 
  • Projects – Assist with financial reporting activities relating to the continued development, implementation and improvement of systems and processes as the business grows and matures

What do I need?

  • Completed Accounting degree and completed or working towards obtaining Chartered Accountant or CPA Australia qualification
  • Strong understanding of Accounting Principles
  • Proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word) and accounting software packages (PeopleSoft is highly desirable but not essential) 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting/finance or a similar role within the finance function of a large corporate
  • Strong understanding of reconciliation processes, audit and control processes and accounting standards
  •  Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines 
  • Strong understanding of data flows between source systems and general ledger 
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
