 The primary role of the Data Analyst is to assist the Product Governance function in the root cause analysis and impact assessment for high severity business incidents under the Incident Management Program. In doing so, the Data Analyst will be able to identify individuals and cohorts of members who have been impacted by an incident, which is required to assist financial remediation.

This role will also perform data analysis, insights and reporting to enable effective risk identification, issue management and governance decision-making. The role requires an analytical thinker with strong investigative capability, able to identify trends, uncover systemic issues and translate complex data into clear insights that support improved product, customer and regulatory outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse product, claims, incident and assurance data to identify trends, anomalies and emerging risks. 
  • Identify specific memberships (or cohorts of members) who are impacted by an incident, whether financial remediation is required or not. 
  • Support the Product Governance team in producing and retrieving data from Bupa systems to assist in validating member impact. 
  • Support governance in determining business requirements to be briefed to technical teams for containment measures. 
  • Develop and maintain governance dashboards and reporting for forums and senior leaders. 
  • Investigate root causes of incidents, recurring issues and control weaknesses. 
  • Partner with Product, Risk, Claims, Remediation, Operations and Technology teams to interpret data and validate insights. 
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, practical insights for non-technical audiences. 
  • Identify data quality gaps and recommend improvements to data capture and controls. 
  • Support regulatory, audit and assurance activities with evidence-based analysis. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of governance metrics, reporting and frameworks. 

Qualifications, Training and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a data analyst role within a large, complex and regulated organisation. 
  • Demonstrated ability in Databricks and SQL 
  • Strong analytical capability with experience working with large and imperfect datasets. 
  • Experience analysing operational, claims, incident or risk-related data. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain insights clearly. 
  • Experience supporting governance, risk, assurance or operational reporting. 
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel and Power BI or equivalent. 
  • Experience in Insurance or Healthcare preferred
