The purpose of this job is…
The Business Analyst will work in close partnership with Product, Pricing, Operations, Data, Architecture and Technology stakeholders to help design and deliver the target-state product and pricing capability for the Capability Modernisation Program. The role will develop a deep understanding of complex health insurance and digital health product structures, pricing models, business rules, processes and supporting technology, and translate business outcomes into clear, implementable designs and requirements for Pega Product Composer and the wider technology ecosystem.
This role is responsible for analysing product data structures and rule frameworks; defining current- and target-state processes; maintaining requirements and decision traceability; and supporting product migration, integration, testing and implementation. The Business Analyst will act as a constructive bridge between business and technology teams, simplifying legacy complexity rather than reproducing it in the target state.
This is a fixed-term opportunity, initially for 6 months, with a strong intention to extend through to the conclusion of the program in late 2027. The role offers flexibility in location, with the team operating on a highly flexible hybrid working model that supports a balance between in-office collaboration and remote work.
The role is primarily worked during standard Australian business hours. As the program collaborates with offshore delivery teams across different time zones, occasional flexibility may be required to attend planned meetings outside standard hours, with reasonable notice and in line with Bupa’s policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Outcomes, Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement: Define measures of success, identify process inefficiencies and opportunities to simplify legacy complexity, perform root cause analysis, and recommend data-driven improvements that strengthen the product and pricing capability
- Requirements Definition & Traceability: Gather, analyse, document and translate business needs and strategic outcomes into clear capabilities, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and data and integration requirements. Maintain end-to-end traceability from the original business need through solution configuration, delivery, testing and supporting evidence.
- Product Data Analysis & Modelling: Analyse product hierarchies, attributes, relationships, effective dating, versioning, data ownership and quality; support mapping of legacy products and data to the target model.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate workshops and decisions across Product, Pricing, Operations, Data, Risk, Compliance and Technology teams, including offshore delivery partners; constructively challenge ambiguity and bridge business and technical perspectives.
- Change & Delivery Support: Drive continuous improvement, support change implementation, and partner with IT to deliver effective solutions.
- Performance Monitoring: Define and track KPIs to measure outcomes and inform decision-making.
- Delivery, Migration & Quality: Partner with product owners, architects, developers, testers and platform specialists throughout solution design, Pega configuration, integrations, product and data migration, reconciliation, BAT and implementation.
- Governance & Controls:Help define product and rule ownership, approval workflows, auditability, version control, segregation of duties and change controls appropriate to a regulated environment.
What you’ll need to make it possible
- 3+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst within complex business and technology transformation programs
- Strong capability in target-state analysis, and process design, requirements decomposition, acceptance criteria and end-to-end traceability
- Ability to translate complex concepts into clear narratives, visual models and implementation-ready requirements for both business and technical audiences
- Strong data-analysis capability, including the ability to understand conceptual and logical data models, product hierarchies, relationships, data ownership, quality, versioning and effective dating
- Experience with product and/or pricing capabilities, including product lifecycle, launch, maintenance, closure or customer migration
- Experience in a regulated industry such as health, insurance or financial services; Australian private health insurance experience is an advantage
- Demonstrated experience working across business and technology teams, with the ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for technical delivery teams. (technical BA knowledge beneficial but not essential).
- Experience supporting data or product migration, reconciliation, scenario-based testing, BAT and implementation readiness
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, influencing and constructive-challenge skills, with the ability to create clarity in ambiguous environments
- Experience with Pega Product Composer, another Pega platform, or a comparable product catalogue, rules or decisioning platform desirable
- Comfort working with distributed and offshore delivery teams, including occasional planned meetings outside standard Australian business hours
