The Speech Pathologist delivers evidence based, recovery oriented care within a mental health setting, supporting individuals to achieve functional, social, and personal outcomes.

About the Role

Mindplace are seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Wagga Wagga on a part time 2 days a week position.

As an Speech Pathologist at Mindplace, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting clients to improve their mental health, daily functioning, and overall wellbeing. This is a patient-facing clinical role where you will work with individuals experiencing challenges with mental health, psychosocial disability, or functional limitations.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, voice, fluency, social communication, literacy, and swallowing using observation, case history, and standardised tools.
  • Interpret findings to determine the nature and severity of communication and swallowing disorders and develop differential diagnoses within scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based intervention plans with clear functional goals and outcome measures.
  • Deliver targeted individual and group therapy across areas including speech, language, fluency, voice, social communication, cognitive-communication, literacy, and dysphagia.
  • Apply swallowing management strategies and utilise AAC systems as required, including training clients and communication partners.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document progress, while providing education and support to clients, families, carers, and stakeholders to optimise outcomes.

About You

We’re seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and unrestricted registration with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of current clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) in line with professional standards.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, critical analysis, and professional judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting, with an interest in mental health practice.
