The role

At Bupa, we’re focused on making healthcare more affordable and accessible for our members. We’re looking for a Medical Engagement & Contracting Manager to help us achieve this by managing key relationships with healthcare providers and driving strategies that support sustainable, high-quality care.

In this role, you’ll:

• Lead a portfolio of healthcare provider relationships, ensuring benefit outlay stays within budget while securing quality services.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies to maintain affordable healthcare solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to execute strategic partnerships and explore innovative care models.
• Build strong, lasting relationships with GPs, specialists, and peak bodies, proactively addressing issues and identifying opportunities for improvement. 
• Support the ongoing execution of our Healthcare Management strategy, contributing to Bupa’s broader goals of growth and transformation.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has experience in healthcare and contracting, and is ready to transition from operational tasks to strategic thinking.

What will you bring?

• Familiarity with Medical Funding Systems, including the Medicare Benefit Schedule
• Understanding of both private and public healthcare systems, along with relevant regulations
• 10+ years in healthcare, with a proven track record in negotiating complex, high-value contracts and ongoing contract management
• Experience in managing medical practices or healthcare provider networks.
• Expertise in partnership and alliance negotiations, with the ability to develop strategies and plan for different scenarios.
• Demonstrated achievements in relevant commercial fields, with a history of delivering results.
• Skilled at influencing diverse stakeholders and quickly building relationships across complex organizational structures.
• Tertiary qualifications in business management, health services, or a related field (preferred)
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and present compelling, insightful reports to executives.
• Capable of working independently, but also an effective collaborator when needed.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to simplify complex processes and provide clear recommendations.
• Excellent at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Ability to convert data into actionable insights and create persuasive presentations for senior leaders.
