The Opportunity
We're looking for an inspiring and strategic leader to take on the pivotal role of Head of Operational and Technology Resilience, APAC. In this senior leadership position, you'll drive the vision, strategy, and delivery of resilience capabilities that ensure our business is prepared for and can thrive through disruption. This is a strategic and hands on position hence experience in implementing and delivering CPS230 requirements is a must.
You'll be at the forefront of developing and embedding critical frameworks across Operational Resilience, Technology Resilience, Business Continuity, and Crisis Management, while building trusted partnerships with leaders and teams across the APAC region. This is more than a governance role, it’s about leading from the front, building a modest high-performing teams, influencing decision-makers, and ensuring resilience is a core part of how we operate. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer Business Functions APAC, this position is offered as hybrid, permanent and may be based from Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of resilience frameworks – Oversee the deployment of the Operational and Technology Resilience Policy, Crisis Management Standard, and Business Resilience Standard across the APAC region.
- Design and execute monitoring programs – Develop and implement a monitoring plan to assess the effectiveness of operational resilience controls, escalate gaps, and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. APRA, Hong Kong Insurance Authority (HKIA) standards).
- Establish resilience reporting and track metrics– Define risk appetite, develop key risk indicators (KRIs), and implement performance metrics to measure operational resilience and provide early warning on potential risks. Develop management and Board reporting on operational resilience posture.
- Embed resilience culture and awareness – Drive proactive engagement across the business, create training materials, and promote understanding of operational resilience responsibilities at all levels.
- Support critical process mapping and BIA – Guide Business Units in identifying critical operations, conducting Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), and setting impact tolerances and recovery objectives through comprehensive mapping.
- Deliver assurance and continuous improvement – Conduct assurance activities, oversee testing and rehearsal programs (including scenario simulations), and ensure timely follow-up on findings and remediation actions.
- Lead crisis management readiness and response – Develop and maintain crisis management documentation, facilitate MU/Country-level simulation exercises, and engage ELT and Board stakeholders to ensure effective crisis preparedness.
- Partner across risk domains for holistic resilience – Collaborate with leaders in Technology, Cyber, Third Party, and other domains to conduct horizon scanning, analyse incidents, and strengthen overall resilience posture.

What do I need?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications with preferred certifications such as CBCI/MBCI (BCI), ISO 27001, CISSP, CISM, or CRISC.
- 10+ years’ experience in Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and IT Disaster Recovery within large, regulated organisations, such as financial services or insurance.
- Experience in implementing and delivering CPS230 requirements
- Deep expertise in operational resilience frameworks including NIST, COBIT, and regulatory compliance (e.g. APRA CPS 230, HKIA), with the ability to translate complex regulations into business-relevant actions.
- Strong risk assessment and scenario testing skills, including experience facilitating stress tests, identifying important business services, mapping, and defining impact tolerances.
- Strategic and analytical mindset, with a data-driven approach to resilience planning, monitoring KRIs, setting risk appetite, and interpreting performance metrics.
- Proven track record in stakeholder management and influencing, including senior executives, with high-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading teams and developing talent, with a focus on fostering a strong team culture, continuous improvement, and personal development.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in complex, fast-paced environments, working cross-functionally to drive risk ownership, change, and innovation in resilience outcomes.
