You might think you already know a lot about Bupa. You’ll know we provide health insurance and aged care services across Australia and you’ve probably also seen our dental and optical clinics in your local shopping centres. But what you might not realise is that Bupa supports health services to 85,000 Defence Force members and their families across more than 50 locations in Australia
About the role
- A Fulltime permanent opportunity has become available in our ADF Health Services Contract (ADFHS) Clinical Governance Team. This is a hybrid role and can be based from our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane office locations when not working from home.
The ADF Health Services Clinical Improvement Lead drives the delivery of service optimisation initiatives and strategic clinical insights, ensuring continuous improvement in healthcare outcomes, operational efficiency and value for Defence personnel, the ADF and Bupa. The role partners with clinical and operational stakeholders to enhance service delivery, improve access to high-quality care and support evidence-based improvements across the health services network.
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the delivery of clinical improvement and service optimisation initiatives, supporting the adoption of new models of care and best-practice clinical practices through structured project management methodologies.
- Act as a clinical subject matter expert, using data-driven insights and improvement methodologies (including PDSA and RCA) to enhance clinical operations, quality outcomes and service delivery performance.
- Develop and maintain clinical reporting frameworks, dashboards and analytics to provide meaningful insights, identify trends and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Design and deliver clinical capability initiatives, training programs and workshops to build workforce capability, strengthen clinical leadership and embed improved ways of working.
- Identify and lead opportunities to improve clinical experiences, streamline processes and enhance service delivery outcomes while ensuring alignment with contractual, legislative and quality requirements.
- Partner with ADF, Bupa and operational teams to deliver business improvement initiatives, support assurance activities and translate clinical data into actionable recommendations for improved health service outcomes.

About you
Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.
- Tertiary qualifications in a clinical discipline such as Nursing, Allied Health, Health Sciences or equivalent experience working in a clinical environment, with relevant qualifications in areas such as Biomedical Science or Health Economics also considered.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, quality improvement, safety or risk management within complex and regulated healthcare environments.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, drive change and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver improved clinical and operational outcomes.
- Strong analytical, communication and report writing skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
- Systems-thinking mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, service optimisation and strengthening clinical governance processes.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while balancing operational delivery requirements with governance oversight.
- Experience developing and refining clinical processes, service delivery frameworks and quality improvement initiatives, with proficiency in data analytics tools such as Power BI, Azure DevOps or Microsoft Azure highly regarded.
