The opportunity:
As the Senior Manager, Ancillary Services & Partnerships, you’ll lead the strategic review and delivery of Bupa’s ancillary products, ensuring they deliver exceptional health outcomes and value for customers, providers, and internal teams.
You’ll oversee fund rules, provider recognition, and operational execution, applying clinical insight into general treatment services. Working closely with business leaders and stakeholders, including government, hospitals, and professional bodies, you’ll influence decisions that shape Bupa’s product offerings and drive enterprise-wide impact.
This permanent full-time position can be based in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne. When you’re not on site visiting our hospital partners, you will have the flexibility to work from home, or from one of our offices in the city in any of these locations.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:
- 5+ years’ experience managing health fund ancillary products including rules, restrictions and benefits.
- An understanding of the health insurance industry and legislation (PHI Act).
- Demonstrated understanding of ancillary product design and ancillary claims management.
- Previous experience in dealing with health professionals & industry associations.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly in relation to business processes.
- An ability to consult and liaise at many levels within the organisation.
- Strong commercial acumen, forecasting, strategic and innovative thinking required.
- Demonstrated understanding of Extras product design and Extras claims management.
- Demonstrated experience in managing assessment of proposals against strategic criteria for significant business projects.
- Strong program/project management skills, with a proven track record in delivery of large-scale business projects & initiatives.
How will I help?
You will add value by:
- Leading the specialist Services and Partnerships team.
- Leading business readiness activities associated with industry changes that impacts general treatment items including changes to industry-based item numbers or clinical scope of practice.
- Managing the Ancillary claims costs through network and non-network to deliver sustainable value to the Customer, Provider and Bupa.
- Manage the development and implementation of the Ancillary partnerships and benefits to:
- Assess and develop a fit for purpose network for the customer and enterprise.
- Ensure the alignment of the contemporary strategies that prioritise engagement of the provider network through strong relationships.
- Incorporate technology to enhance access, claiming and communication to customers, providers, and the enterprise.
- Oversee the General Treatment association relationship management, including representation at industry forums to ensure Bupa Australia meets all existing, as well as any new, legislation requirements associated with Ancillary Providers and Services.
- Managing the ancillary benefits line through both Network and Non-Network providers including the onboarding, compliance, and integrity of the provider groups.
- Making recommendations and coordinate introduction of new services and modalities including preparation of Business cases.
- Managing implementation of new modalities and services into Bupa's Ancillary proposition including production of association and provider agreements, recognition criteria and claiming guidelines as required.
- Managing existing ancillary claiming rules as well as implementation of common business rules and processes, associated with introduction of new modalities and industry changes.
- Ensuring the relevant process, procedures and governance structures are in place and always followed.
