The purpose of this role is: 

This is an opportunity to help shape and embed Bupa's Conduct Framework across our health insurance, healthcare and aged care businesses in Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. 

The Senior Compliance Manager combines conduct risk advisory, assurance, risk assessment, data analysis, and executive/Board reporting. We're looking for someone who can interpret regulatory requirements, assess risk, and control effectiveness, and translate complex obligations into practical actions that support good customer outcomes. 

What makes this role unique is the breadth of exposure. You'll work across multiple industries, influence senior decisionmakers, help shape the practical embedment of a relatively new framework, and use insights from incidents, complaints, assurance activities, and data to drive meaningful change.

What is needed to make it possible? 

We're looking for a lawyer, compliance, or risk professional from a highly regulated environment. Exposure to Australian Consumer Law or other consumer protection frameworks would be valuable but is not essential. 

 In addition, you’ll bring to the role: 

• Experience leading or conducting risk assessments, assurance reviews, thematic reviews or compliance monitoring activities. 
• Strong analytical capability, with the ability to synthesise data, incidents, complaints, assurance outcomes and regulatory developments into meaningful insights and actions. 
• Exceptional written communication skills, including experience preparing high-quality reporting for executive, Board or regulatory audiences and distilling complex issues into clear, concise recommendations. 
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels. 
• Sound judgement, intellectual curiosity and exceptional attention to detail, including the ability to identify what matters most, articulate a clear "so what", and work within strict reporting, word count and governance requirements. 
• A collaborative style that reflects Bupa's values of Brave, Caring and Responsible. 

This hybrid position is offered as permanent, full-time and may be based at our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane offices.
