What’s your role?
As the General Manager Commercial for Bupa Medicaland our Mental Health businesses, you will be responsible for the commercial strategy to drive performance across two of our fastest-growing businesses, as well as developing and implementing good governance and processes. You will bring a scale-up mindset and commercial agility to shape and embed the core commercial infrastructure, and support the Operational Directors to deliver on committed performance targets – establishing robust processes, governance frameworks and commercial discipline from the ground up.
Your remit includes providing expert guidance on contracts, identifying and developing strategies to mitigate commercial risks, and identifying and supporting the business to unlock commercial opportunities within the existing portfolio and more broadly.
This is a pivotal role for someone who is experienced in large matrixed corporations, thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments, can operate at both a strategic and operational level, and is passionate about building sustainable, customer-focussed health businesses.
What will your day involve?
In this senior leadership role, you will:
- Actively participate as a core member of the Bupa Medical Clinics and Mental Health Centres Leadership teams, to provide strategic direction and commercial ambition of the businesses.
- Design and implement fit for purpose commercial processes and governance structures to support scalable growth, performance and business maturity;
- Provide commercial leadership across contracts, pricing, performance management, business cases and investment cases – ensuring strategic alignment and risk management;
- Work alongside each business’ leadership teams and the broader Health Services Commercial team to help identify and assess growth opportunities, partnerships, and new markets, bringing a proactive, pragmatic and agile lens to decision-making;
- Translate strategy into action by partnering with the Directors to develop commercial plans that drive revenue, optimise operations, and improve margins;
- Establish and monitor KPIs and performance indicators, enabling data-led decision-making and accountability across business units;
- Ensure all commercial activities align with and support the company’s long-term vision and strategic goals;
- Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and enhance profitability with a focus on finding opportunities for synergies between the business streams;
- Build trusted relationships across Bupa and with external partners to enable delivery, influence outcomes, and shape a unified commercial vision;
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes aligned with agreed strategy.
What will you bring?
- Experience in large organisations and Healthcare
- Proven high level client relationship management and key stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability as a Senior leader within finance/ commercial/ legal / sales and broader business.
- A high level of financial and commercial capability, with proven experience in applying financial and operational performance frameworks to drive successful business outcomes and contractual obligations.
