Bupa is looking for a First Nations Talent Programs Specialist who is passionate about walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on their career journeys. In this role, you’ll take a hands-on approach to attracting, engaging, and supporting First Nations candidates through every stage of the recruitment journey.

You will help create a culturally safe, welcoming, and empowering experience for mob considering employment with Bupa. Your work will strengthen our First Nations talent pipelines and play a key role in delivering Bupa’s commitments under our First Nations Employment Strategy and Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan. This means you’ll be part of meaningful, long-lasting change for our communities.

This is a permanent role, ideally based in Melbourne or Sydney, with hybrid working options available.

This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Bupa considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), s 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD) and s 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (VIC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a First Nations Talent Pool, proactively linking candidates with suitable open roles.
  • Support the First Nations Talent Programs Lead by coordinating recruitment into First Nations talent programs, including traineeships, internships, and graduate pathways.
  • Engage with external recruitment agencies to share opportunities and expand the candidate pipeline.
  • Partner with the First Nations Talent Programs Lead to ensure talent programs (e.g., traineeships, internships, graduate pathways) are effectively resourced with high-quality First Nations candidates.
  • Take a hands-on role in supporting the recruitment of First Nations candidates through the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, attraction, candidate care, interview preparation, reference/background checks, and onboarding.
  • Ensure a positive and culturally safe experience for all participants in First Nations programs, providing guidance and support throughout the candidate journey.
  • Monitor candidate pipelines and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen participation in talent programs.
  • Support our First Nations Trainees through culturally safe spaces and yarning circles.
  • Monitor the First Nations inbox and respond to queries from candidates, employees, and key stakeholders, providing timely and culturally appropriate support.
  • Actively part of the Action Committee of our First Nations Employee Advocacy Group (EAG), ensuring employee voice and perspectives are heard and actioned.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Demonstrated experience in HR, recruitment, workforce development, or candidate experience, ideally within a First Nations context.
  • Proven ability to take a hands-on role in recruitment processes, including sourcing, candidate engagement, interview preparation, and onboarding.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with First Nations candidates.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple candidate processes simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to support First Nations Talent initiatives and programs.
  • Experience using recruitment platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and candidate management tools to support sourcing, engagement, and recruitment workflows.
  • Familiarity with candidate assessment and screening tools, including psychometric assessments and online application systems.
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to new HR technology systems to enhance recruitment efficiency and candidate experience.
