First Nations Retention Partner

Join Bupa as a First Nations Retention Partner, driving initiatives that support retention, wellbeing, and career development for First Nations employees. This will include strengthening belonging, advocacy, and sustainable career pathways for First Nations employees across Bupa.
The role also supports the First Nations Employee Advocacy Group (EAG) and contributes to initiatives, driving inclusion, wellbeing, and cultural safety across the organisation.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract role, ideally based in Melbourne or Sydney, with hybrid working options available.
This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Bupa considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), s 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD) and s 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (VIC).
Responsibilities:
- Deliver initiatives under the Retention Plan that support wellbeing, advocacy, and career progression for First Nations employees.
- Partner with leaders, managers, and HR to enhance wellbeing programs, including mental health and Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) initiatives.
- Provide timely, culturally informed advice and support to First Nations employees and leaders to address retention and engagement matters.
- Support the rollout and ongoing delivery of the First Nations Mentoring and Career Pathways Programs, ensuring participants relate to meaningful development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development and People & Culture teams to strengthen internal mobility, progression, and leadership development pathways for First Nations employees.
- Track participation, feedback, and outcomes to ensure continuous improvement of mentoring and career support initiatives.
- Build trusted relationships with First Nations employees, leaders, and community partners to strengthen networks of support.
- Collaborate with internal teams including People & Culture, Wellbeing, and Operations to embed culturally safe practices across the employee lifecycle.
Skills & Experience Required:
- This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Demonstrated experience in HR, recruitment, workforce development, or candidate experience, ideally within a First Nations context.
- Demonstrated experience in employee engagement, wellbeing, HR, or community development, ideally within a First Nations context.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contemporary issues impacting employment and wellbeing.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and provide culturally informed support to employees and teams.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead engagement activities and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with data tracking and reporting to measure program outcomes and continuous improvement.
