Our practice is proud to be part of the local community, caring for a loyal and long-standing patient base. We are looking for a Medical Receptionist who wants to be more than the person behind the front desk. You will be a key contact and connector between our GPs, care team and local patients, helping ensure every person feels welcomed, supported and confident in the care they receive.
The purpose of this job
As our Medical Receptionist, you’ll be at the heart of our Hawthorn GP practice, acting as the key contact and connector between our GPs, care team and local patient community.

We’re proud to care for a loyal and long-standing patient base, so this role is about much more than answering phones and booking appointments. You’ll build genuine relationships with our patients, create a welcoming experience from the moment they walk through the door, and help our GPs deliver seamless, connected care.

Importantly, this is a role you can really make your own. We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative, bringing new ideas to the table and finding ways to continuously improve the patient and practice experience.

What you’ll need to make it possible

• Available to work permanent part-time approximately 24 hours per week
• Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist within a GP or healthcare setting is highly regarded
• Experience using Best Practice is advantageous
• A warm, professional and patient-focused approach
• Confidence managing appointment bookings, patient enquiries and competing priorities
• Experience processing payments, Medicare or health insurance claims and billing enquiries
• Strong attention to detail when registering patients and maintaining confidential information
• The ability to build trusted relationships with GPs, clinical teams and the local patient community
• A proactive mindset and the confidence to take ownership of the reception function
• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute ideas that help the practice grow and improve
• A genuine interest in developing your skills and building a longer-term career in healthcare
